Dreampad technology is based on the natural conductivity of the human body, a principle known as ‘bone conduction.’ Every time we speak we hear ourselves in two ways: through ‘air conduction’ (air-conducted sound waves coming from our mouth and entering our outer ear) and through ‘bone conduction’ (the sound vibration emanating from our voice box and carried internally by bone and tissue to our inner ear). Preliminary research and clinicians familiar with the Dreampad suggest that sound waves coming from the Dreampad are activating the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) via the vagus nerve. The PNS helps you regulate stress. If we’re in a state of elevated stress, the PNS is the part of our nervous system which suppresses the anxious response, allowing you to relax.
